Arcade machines do not have one standard size. A compact upright cabinet may pass through a normal doorway, while a multiplayer fish table, basketball machine or simulator may require wider access, lifting equipment or partial disassembly.
Before ordering, buyers should separate four figures: assembled dimensions, packed dimensions, net weight and gross weight. Mixing them is one of the easiest ways to underestimate freight or discover too late that a machine cannot reach its final position.
For venue owners, this is a layout and delivery question. For distributors, it affects packing and container planning. For repair buyers, it determines whether screens, service doors and internal components remain accessible after installation.
How Big Is an Arcade Machine?
There is no reliable average arcade machine size. Cabinet dimensions change with the game type, screen arrangement, player count, control layout and attached parts such as seats, pedestals or marquees.
Official manufacturer specifications show how wide the difference can be:
| Published Example | Machine Dimensions | Published Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Animal Kaiser Plus | 74 × 92 × 166 cm W × D × H |
132 kg |
| Stranger Things Arcade | 239 × 264 × 300 cm W × D × H |
1,013 kg |
These are manufacturer-published examples, not universal standards and not Fusen model specifications. Their value is the contrast: one cabinet is less than one metre wide, while another installation is more than three times as wide and weighs over one metric tonne.
The practical rule is to request data for the exact cabinet version being quoted. A different base, display, player panel or marquee can change the dimensions even when the game name remains the same.
Four Numbers Buyers Should Not Mix
Machine dimensions describe the assembled equipment. Packed dimensions include protective materials, pallets, timber frames or wooden cases. Net weight refers to the machine itself, while gross weight includes the transport packaging.
The difference may look small on a specification sheet but still affect shipment volume. Bandai Namco lists Animal Kaiser Plus at 74 × 92 × 166 cm, while its shipping dimensions are 77 × 92 × 168 cm.
Large equipment may also ship in several pieces. Raw Thrills lists Stranger Things Arcade on a 592 kg main-cabinet pallet and a separate 421 kg pedestal pallet. For an overseas order, buyers therefore need the size, gross weight and contents of every package—not only the assembled dimensions.

Shipment volume (CBM) = packed length × packed width × packed height in metres
DHL Global Forwarding explains that carriers compare gross physical weight, including packaging and pallets, with volumetric weight and generally charge according to the higher figure. The density rule also varies by transport mode, so packed data should be sent to the freight forwarder instead of being converted with one generic formula.

Measure the Full Delivery Route
The main entrance is only one checkpoint. Measure the complete route from the unloading area to the final machine position:
- Loading entrance and door frame.
- Narrow corridors and internal doors.
- Lift-door opening and lift interior.
- Stair landings, ceiling height and corners.
- Final aisle and turning space inside the venue.
A cabinet may be narrower than a doorway and still fail to enter. Its depth and height may prevent it from rotating through a corner, clearing a lift entrance or passing beneath a low ceiling.
When access is tight, confirm removable parts before shipment. Ask whether the control panel, marquee, seat or base can be detached, how reassembly is handled, and whether dismantling affects wiring, artwork or warranty.

The Machine Footprint Is Not the Operating Space
A cabinet fitting on the floor plan does not mean the installation is workable. Players need standing or seating space, staff need clear circulation, and technicians need room to open service panels.
Raw Thrills publishes location dimensions of 239 × 264 × 300 cm for Stranger Things Arcade, but recommends minimum floor space of 244 × 376 × 305 cm. That adds 112 cm of depth beyond the listed machine depth, showing why the footprint alone can understate the real space requirement.
Venue owners should consider player position, queue movement, neighbouring machines and emergency routes. Maintenance clearance matters just as much: rear panels must open, ventilation cannot be blocked, and screens or internal assemblies need a practical removal path.
These checks should be completed before approving the final layout. Our commercial game room setup guide covers wider pre-opening planning.
What Each Buyer Should Record
Venue owners should keep the assembled dimensions, operating clearance and full access-route measurements with the floor plan.
Distributors need packed dimensions, gross weight, package count, packaging photographs, removable parts and loading direction for every cabinet version. One game name should not be used to store several different sets of cabinet data.
Repair purchasing teams should record service-door clearance, screen-removal direction and the space required to reach the PCB, power supply and wiring. A machine placed tightly against a wall may become expensive to service later.
For custom projects, the approved drawing, quotation and packing record should carry the same dimensions and version number. Our custom arcade cabinet RFQ checklist explains what should be confirmed before production.
Industry Insight
In commercial arcade projects, a wrong measurement rarely creates only one extra charge. It can cause failed delivery access, temporary storage, cabinet dismantling, additional labour, venue rearrangement and a delayed opening.
The most useful control is not another general size chart. It is an approved specification for the exact machine, followed by a physical check of the delivery route before the deposit is paid. Distributors should repeat that process whenever the cabinet structure or packing method changes.
Final Thoughts
Arcade machine dimensions should never be treated as one catalogue number. Confirm the assembled size, packed size, net weight, gross weight and package count for the exact model being ordered. Then measure the full delivery route and leave enough room for players, ventilation and maintenance. That gives venue owners a workable layout, distributors a more accurate freight plan and repair teams better access after installation.
