Do Arcade Machine Specifications Vary by Country?

An arcade machine built for one country may not be ready for another. Even with the same cabinet, voltage, plugs, payment systems, software language and documentation can change.

For distributors and arcade operators, these details should be confirmed before production. A small specification change at the factory is usually cheaper than modifying machines after they arrive.

Power Comes First

One of the first questions for an export order should be simple: where will the machine be installed?

Different markets use different electrical and plug systems. The IEC TR 60083 reference covers plug and socket-outlet systems used across IEC member countries, so buyers should not assume that one plug configuration is suitable for every export market.

But changing the plug is not enough. Buyers should also confirm the required voltage and frequency, power supply compatibility and the machine’s electrical configuration before production.

For distributors selling the same cabinet into several markets, put the destination country on the RFQ even when you already know the voltage you need.

Payment Systems Are Not Universal

A machine may use coins in one venue, tokens in another, while a larger arcade operates with a centralized card system.

Changing between them is not always as simple as replacing the payment device. Depending on the machine, it can affect the cabinet opening, mounting position, wiring, I/O signals and credit settings.

If a distributor plans to install a local card reader after delivery, the factory should receive its interface requirements before the cabinet and wiring are finalized. Otherwise, a finished machine may still need local rewiring or metalwork.

Language Goes Beyond the Game Screen

A machine can display English during gameplay and still be difficult for local technicians to operate.

Check the operator menu, settings pages, error messages, boot screen, labels and instructions—not only the player-facing interface.

For fish game machines, software also needs to match the hardware configuration. Player count, payment response and operating settings may be tied to the PCB and I/O configuration. Fusen’s Dragon & Phoenix Fish Table PCB Kit, for example, supports switchable English and Chinese and adjustable game settings for commercial fish table projects.

Documentation also needs attention. Where applicable, EU machinery rules require instructions and safety information to be provided in a language that can be easily understood by users in the relevant Member State. Buyers can check the current requirements in the official EU Machinery Regulation. The exact requirements still depend on the product and destination market.

Where Cheap Export Quotes Become Expensive

Two factories may quote what appears to be the same arcade machine, but the lower price does not always represent the same export-ready configuration.

Item What May Change Risk If Missed
Power Voltage, frequency, plug Installation problems
Payment Coin, token, bill or card Payment does not work correctly
Software Language and settings Wrong operating configuration
Cabinet Payment openings and controls Local modification

A cheaper quotation can become expensive if machines arrive with the wrong payment opening, unsuitable electrical configuration or software that needs to be changed locally.

The real comparison is not simply which factory sells the cabinet cheaper. It is which quotation represents a machine that can actually be installed and operated in the destination market.

What Buyers Should Confirm Before Production

A good OEM process does not mean changing every part of the machine. The better approach is to keep the core platform stable and customize only what the project requires.

  • Destination country
  • Machine type and player count
  • Voltage, frequency and plug
  • Coin, token, bill or card system
  • Software language and settings
  • Logo, artwork and control layout
  • Packaging and documentation requirements

Fusen supports OEM/ODM configurations covering cabinet appearance, logo, software, player layout and payment systems. The 6 Player Fish Hunter Arcade Cabinet, for example, is available with 110V/220V configurations and custom payment options for commercial projects.

Once the specification is approved, the important step is to build and test the machine against that exact configuration before shipment.

Industry Insight: Standardize the Machine, Localize the Configuration

For distributors, too much customization can create another problem. If every market uses completely different internal parts, spare-parts inventory and after-sales support become harder over time.

A better approach is to standardize service-critical components where possible while localizing the parts customers actually need to be different: power configuration, payment interface, software language, artwork and documentation.

Keep a simple configuration record for each market:

Market → Machine Version → Power → Payment → Software → Artwork → Documentation

When a repeat order or spare-parts request arrives later, both the distributor and factory know exactly which version is being discussed. For a distributor managing several markets, that consistency can be more valuable than saving a small amount on the original unit price.

Final Thoughts

Yes, arcade machine specifications can vary by country. Power, payment systems, software, language and documentation should be checked against the actual destination market.

For overseas buyers, the safest sequence is simple: confirm the market, approve the configuration, then start production. Fixing these details at the factory is usually easier than modifying the machine after shipment.
